As we set out on our adventure in the breathtaking Alps, we couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of excitement.

The crisp mountain air, the stunning landscapes, and the promise of unforgettable experiences awaited us. Every twist and turn of the winding roads revealed new vistas that captivated our hearts.

Must-See Attractions

One of our first stops was the iconic Matterhorn. Standing at 4,478 meters, this iconic peak is a magnet for tourists and mountaineers alike. We took the Gornergrat Railway to enjoy panoramic views of the mountain and surrounding peaks. The railway operates daily from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and tickets cost around CHF 90 for adults, with discounts available for children.

Next, we visited Lake Geneva, a stunning spot that offers various recreational activities. The crystal-clear waters surrounded by charming villages make it a perfect place for a relaxing day. Whether you prefer sailing, paddleboarding, or just lounging by the shore, this destination has something for everyone. The area is accessible year-round, and visiting the lakeside parks is free!

Another highlight of our trip was the Eagle's Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), perched at 1,834 meters above sea level. Originally built as a retreat for the Nazi party, it now serves as a popular restaurant and viewpoint. The views of the Bavarian Alps are breathtaking, and it's a perfect spot for a leisurely lunch. The site is open from May to October, and the bus ride up costs around €30 round trip.

Practical Information for Travelers

When planning our trip to the Alps, we found it helpful to remember a few essential tips. Firstly, the best time to visit is during late spring to early fall when the weather is mild and most attractions are fully accessible. We also recommend purchasing an Alpine Pass for discounted entry to various attractions and transportation options in the region.

It's wise to pack layers, as the weather can change rapidly in the mountains. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, as you'll likely find yourself exploring numerous trails and scenic paths. For those interested in skiing or snowboarding, the winter months offer some of the best slopes in the world, with resorts like Chamonix and Zermatt welcoming visitors of all skill levels.

Where to Stay: Hotel Arosa

For our accommodation, we chose the Hotel Arosa, located just a short distance from the Gornergrat Railway station. This charming hotel offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and a cozy atmosphere. Rooms start at approximately CHF 150 per night, with options for family suites and half-board packages. The hotel's restaurant features local cuisine, providing a perfect way to unwind after a day of adventure.

Lykkers, our journey through the Alps was nothing short of magical. From towering peaks to serene lakes, this destination offers a wealth of experiences for every type of traveler. We encourage you to pack your bags and explore the beauty of the Alps, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Whether you seek adventure or relaxation, this stunning region has it all.
