Hey Lykkers! If we’re strolling through Frankfurt’s peaceful Grüneburgpark on a sunny day, we might look up and spot a slim white tower piercing the cloudless blue sky—that’s the Europaturm, or as locals call it, the Ginnheimer Spargel (Ginnheim Asparagus).

It’s not just a telecom tower. With its height, location, and the park in front of it, this underrated spot offers one of Frankfurt’s most charming visual experiences. Let’s see how we can enjoy this landmark without spending more than a few dollars!

What Is the Europaturm?

The Europaturm is Frankfurt’s tallest structure, rising to a height of 337.5 meters (1,107 feet). Built between 1974 and 1979, it was designed by architect Erwin Heinle and is now used for digital TV and satellite signal transmissions. Its nickname, “Ginnheimer Spargel,” comes from its resemblance to a long, skinny stalk of asparagus!

While it’s not open to the public inside, it remains a cultural icon—and it’s best enjoyed from nearby Grüneburgpark.

Best Viewpoint: Grüneburgpark

Grüneburgpark stretches out right in front of the tower and gives us the best possible view. On a sunny, cloudless day, the white tower contrasts beautifully with the deep green of the park and the bright blue sky. It’s quiet, spacious, and the perfect location for photography, a walk, or even a picnic.
